He says about it himself: “This kind of work is often described as meticulous. Well, to be honest, apart from the occasional slip-up with a chisel or a poorly timed hammer blow, pain has nothing to do with the things I make. I love doing this. His little wooden robots are sometimes inspired by figures from reality or the theater world, such as the Scottish pediatric oncology nurse Flo Jo, MacBeth, and Major Tom. They each have their own storage crate.

At Galerie Zône, Gerard Scanlan is exhibiting, among other things, a beautiful room divider made of sturdy maple, walnut, and elm with hand-carved inlay, jewelry boxes that open in a unique way, and several little wooden robots. Gerard Scanlan has become a probationary member of the gallery.
